The Birth of a Family
It all began in 1983. Among the freshmen who joined the university’s educational broadcasting station as juniors was the one who would later become the very heart of my family—my wife. What started as clashes between a strict senior and a headstrong junior soon grew into countless stories, enough to fill an entire chapter. Here, I share our family’s journey of growth, year by year, through a single photo for each stage.

그 시작은 1983년으로 거슬러 올라갑니다. 대학교 교육방송국에 2년 후배로 들어온 신입생 중 한 명이, 지금은 우리 가족의 중심이 된 아내였습니다. 까칠한 선배와 막무가내 후배의 충돌로 이야기가 시작되었지요. 그 갈등과 에피소드 만으로도 한 챕터를 채울 만큼 많습니다. 이곳에서는 우리 가족의 성장 역사를 연도별로 한 장의 사진으로 담아 소개하려 합니다.

This photo was taken in the summer of 1987 during an MT trip to Seorak Beach. It shows the third and fourth people in the top left row. There are very few photos from 1985–1986, since those were the years when I didn’t have a camera.
