Among the many museums in Paris, the Orangerie stands out as one of the most uniquely captivating. In the autumn of 2009, when I was utterly enamored with the city, I finally succeeded in visiting the Orangerie on my fifth trip. Because I had waited so long for that moment, the experience remains vivid in my memory even now. This is the story I want to tell.

This museum was designed specifically to showcase Monet’s Water Lilies series, and its main galleries—two oval-shaped rooms—are entirely devoted to displaying the panoramic cycle of his Water Lilies.
이 미술관은 모네의 〈수련〉 연작을 위해 특별히 설계된 공간으로, 핵심 전시실은 오발 형태의 방 두 개에 걸쳐 수련 연작이 파노라마처럼 펼쳐져 있다.
Because the museum used special lighting to protect the original artwork, it was impossible to capture the true colors of the piece in a photograph. Tripods were not allowed either, so I opened the aperture as wide as possible and tried to steady my hands, doing everything I could to minimize even the slightest vibration while taking the shot.
원본 작품의 훼손을 막기 위해 설치된 특수 조명 아래에서는 사진으로는 결코 원작의 색을 온전히 담아낼 수 없다. 게다가 삼각대 사용도 금지되어 있어, 나는 조리개를 최대한 개방한 채 미세한 흔들림조차 억누르며 사진을 찍기 위해 온 신경을 집중해야 했다.
