Since joining Daewoo Engineering in 1987, I have kept a diary every single day—except for a few short breaks when I was not working.
The very beginning of this lifelong habit goes back to my repeat study year before employment, when I happened to receive a small diary from my father. That gift became the starting point of my record-keeping journey.
Some people ask why I still insist on using paper in this digital age, when it is less searchable and less durable. But for me, the act of writing by hand carries meaning that technology cannot replace.
The diary I am currently writing is numbered #38-67, which means it is my 38th year of journaling and the 67th volume in sequence.
KIE-16 refers to the 16 diaries I have written since joining Kiewit in 2020.
The notebooks labeled 80–87 on the left were written before my employment and are not included in the official numbering.
On the Year by Year page, I plan to publish one essay per year starting from 1988, each focusing on a single theme. So far, I have written up to 1999, with twelve pieces currently posted on the website through 1999. My goal is to complete 38 essays by 2026, steadily adding one or two entries each month.
1987년 대우엔지니어링에 입사한 이후 지금까지 (일부 일하지 않던 시기 몇 주를 제외 하고는) 하루도 빠지지 않고 써오고 있는 내 다이어리.
입사전 재수시절 우연히 아버님으로 부터 받게된 손 다이러이가 기록의 시작이다.
어떤 이는 디지털 시대에 검색이 뒤떨어지고 보관성도 나쁜 종이를 왜 아직 고집을 하는지 묻기도 한다.
현재 쓰고 있는 다이어리의 번호는 #38-67이며 38년차, 일련번호 67를 의미한다.
KIE-16은 2020년 키윗에 입사 후 지금까지 써온 16권째 다이어리이다.
좌측 80~87은 입사 전에 기록한 수첩으로 일련 번호에 포함은 되지 않는다.
이 Year by Year 페이지에서는 1988년부터 매년 한 가지 주제를 정해 글을 올리려 한다.
현재 1999년까지 원고를 작성했으며, 웹페이지에는 1999년까지 총 12편이 게시되어 있다.
최종 목표는 2026년까지 38편을 완성하는 것으로, 한 달에 한두 편씩 꾸준히 올릴 계획이다.
