Title: What Would You Like to Drink, Master?
I began by simply shaping human figures out of wire, but as I worked, an image suddenly came to mind—figures holding onto a mug and peering inside. So I shifted direction on the spot. I often don’t start with a fixed concept; instead, I let the piece evolve as ideas emerge during the process. This artwork was created in that same spontaneous way, and in the end, I gave it a playful title: “What would you like to drink, Master?”
The wire figures clinging to the mug and looking into it felt as if they were genuinely asking that question, which made the piece quietly humorous and charming.
처음에는 단순히 철사로 사람 형상을 만들고 있었는데, 작업을 하다 보니 문득 컵을 붙잡고 안을 들여다보는 모습이 떠올라 즉흥적으로 방향을 바꾸게 되었습니다. 저는 작품의 의도를 처음부터 정해두기보다, 만들면서 떠오르는 생각에 따라 흐름을 바꾸는 경우가 종종 있습니다. 이번 작품도 그렇게 탄생한 것으로, 마지막에는 순간적인 위트를 담아 “주인님, 뭐 마시시게요?”라는 제목을 붙여 친구에게 건넸습니다.
철사 인형들이 컵을 붙들고 안을 들여다보는 모습이 마치 그렇게 묻는 것 같아, 자연스럽게 웃음이 나는 장면이 되었습니다.
